VIENNA SWING SISTERS - on tour
After their successful concerts featured by the Lungau Big Band in their programme "in the mood" - now ‘a cappella’ at the Romy Award 2009 "live on air"
“… The three singers and actresses brought an amazing vocal precision to their performance, reproducing the legendary trio’s distinctive sound in every detail. With closed eyes one was transported back to the first half of the last century.
Oliver Baumann about their concert on 4th of April ’09, Republic, Salzburg.
For this reason the organizers of Romy-Award 2009 decided to hire this year not an instrumental band but the Vienna Swing Sisters ‘a cappella’ to celebrate their 20th anniversary: they wanted to emphasise the nostalgic aspect! Dressed as golden Romys – costumes designed by Thomas Kirchgrabner, main designer of Liska – Lisa Jakob, Stephanie Lang and Susanne Fanny Rader, under Musical Director Thomas Rabitsch, illuminated the gala performance with their natural ‘good old times’ flair and recreated the atmosphere of the 'golden era of swing' with humour.
Live on stage and the entire evening you can experience them in Vienna on the 2nd of June at 19.30 pm at the opening of 'Theater am Spittelberg – Sommerbühne’. They will sing and play their revue "Rum & Coca Cola - A Tribute to the Andrews Sisters" with Markus Richter & The Moods - Bernd Leichtfried, piano; Martin Treml, bass; Herwig Wagner, drums.

With their authentic 40s sound, the VIENNA SWING SISTERS sweep their audience away to the GOLDEN ERA OF SWING
RUM & COCA COLA
– A TRIBUTE TO THE ANDREWS SISTERS –
“When these three argue, the musical world reaps the benefits!”
Even if Glenn Miller did break up his tour with the three Minnesota sisters prematurely “because they were constantly arguing”, the Andrews Sisters remain to this day the most popular ‘girl group’ of all time.
For world famous hits like ‚Bei mir bist du schen’, ‘Rum & Coca Cola’ und ‘Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy’ Lisa Jakob, Stephanie Lang and Susanne Fanny Rader slip into the roles of the three vivacious sisters, LaVerne, Maxene and Patty Andrews.
With moderation and short scenes, written by Wolfgang Lesky, the Andrews Sisters success story becomes a charming and amusing concert about a fascinating piece of music history.
Markus Richter guides the audience through the evening, takes on several roles and sings the parts of Bing Crosby and other guests that worked with the Andrews Sisters.
The VIENNA SWING SISTERS are accompanied by their band THE MOODS – Bernd Leichtfried alternate Bela Fischer at the piano, Martin Treml on bass and Herwig Wagner on drums, under the musical direction of Markus Richter.
It is just possible that the Andrews Sisters recipe for success was in fact their fascinating, frictional sense of harmony – and their humour.
